While in NYC this past weekend, while walking through the Gramercy neighbourhood, my friend Tia and I stumbled upon Staghorn Ltd (362 3rd Ave) and stopped in.
Staghorn Ltd turned out to be a quaint little store of gifts, paper goods, home accessories, and jewelry. Frankly, it was similar to PaperThread in Polaris, one of my favourite stores, but had a certain charm because of its location and the easy ambiance.
As I browsed through a section of books for young readers, I zoomed into the book, "How to Behave and Why" by Munro Leaf.
I took a quick read and liked the simply-stated advice and explanations on good behavioral traits to have and the reasons why (in a non-preachy or judgmental manner). Our family has, more often than not, different cultural perspective on how to behave or which traits to cultivate more above others (e.g., communitarian vs individualist, self-reflective vs. requesting for feedback). But when I read this book, I really liked the way they lay it out and I think it will be easy for Naia to understand at 4-years-old especially now that she is reading.
But I decided that if I could not find it first in the Westerville Public Library, that I would then purchase it from Amazon.com. Well, the library does not have it so I just ordered it from Amazon and also ordered the "Manners Can Be Fun" book from the same author. There are some sample pages on Amazon and it only reaffirms the simple loveliness of the series.
I also found some nice jewelry but I will blog about them in another blog posting. (They deserve their own slot!)
