Week In The Life - TGIF!

Slowing down on getting pages done - currently a day behind.  Left the Week in the Life binder out on the girls’ desks and they have been flipping through it.  Noah made it a point to email me a photo today to include.  He called it, "your day-in-the-life" thing." Haha!  Made me so happy since it can be a lonely adventure some days being the only family historian advocate.  It was interesting for me to note that on Thursday, I was right at my goal of 5 photos as the day just flew by but I was happy with just reaching my goal of 5 and that the 5 I did take were good ones simply because they told the true story about the day.

The girls slipped into my heels by the door before leaving for summer camp this morning.  Too funny.

TGIF!  Looking forward to the time this weekend to get back on track on putting the album together.

Just in case you are wondering, I am using the new faux-leather 3-ring binders from DCWV in 8.5 X 11 size and in Camel color - they seem to only be available at Joann's for now.  I really love them and can't wait to see what other colors they have.

Day Two's layout needs some journaling.  Once again, a 4-page layout. ;o)  Maybe I should just change the goal to 4 pages versus 2 pages.  The photos are turning out great.  I need to white-balance my DSLR.  But the mobility and hi-res photos from the iPhone are working just right for me.

Week in the Life - My Tips and Tricks

 
Foolishly I am going to attempt to do Week in the Life this week with Ali Edwards.  I’ve never tried it and failed miserably at Project Life though I do have enough photos to catch up if (1) I had more hours in a day, (2) commit to less things, (3) could clone myself. :o)

I have a few tricks up my sleeve this time around in preparation of this marathon,

1. I am using Catch to capture the journaling throughout the day.  Last night, all I had to do was copy and paste the journaling.  I did not anticipate how helpful this would be but it absolutely is.
2. I set a reachable goal of taking 5 photos at minimum and letting the blurry ones count.  Life is not always in hi-def crispness so why should photos? 
3. I also set a goal of keeping it to a minimum of 2 pages per day.  I did end up overdoing it yesterday and went beyond my 2-page plan to create 4.  But I was camera happy and wanted to use up all 8 3.5 X 2.5 spots on my collage template. . . . speaking of which . . .
4. I created an 8 X 10 collage template for clipping and printing the photos.  BIG TIME SAVER.  Some of these clip masks were used for journaling so I was able to drop the photos and/or copy+paste the journaling from trick #1 to get everything done fairly quickly.
5. I am listening to Ali Edwards to not get caught up in the “how-to-do” and just DO.  But I need to be more cognicant of getting myself in the photos.

I will take better photos of the layouts this evening and post them in a photo album or post.  Have not quite figured out how to share them on the blog yet but will be checking out the links shared on this list of Week in the Life posts (at the bottom) to see how others did for some inspiration.

 

My Life is a Fantastic Flying Book

I am in the middle of a local event at the day job and after 4-5 days of long non-stop, fast-paced work hours, it's harder to remain pepped and energized.

But being able to come home (albeit late) to my girls and husband gives me something to look forward to. Noah's been taking care of everyone and everything and it just gives you such a peace of mind.

Tonight, the girls and I laid on the floor cushions in one of their bedrooms and read The Fantastic Flying Books of Morris Lessmore. At the end of the book, Gianna, the "baby" of the family goes, "That was a good story Momma." just as if it was the first time she was reading it.

Yes my dear it is. And my life story is pretty good too because I have you guys.
