A Modern Eden for Your Family (Mod Fam Find of the Week)

Modern designs for young families from Ohio?  Yes indeed!  As an Ohioan, I am so proud to feature today's Mod Fam Find of the Week.  A Modern Eden is Dayton, Ohio-based FORGE Ideas's first foray into providing design-astute offerings for young children and their families.  Their current product offering is small (3 posters, 1 flashcards set, 2 totes, 1 app, and a partridge in a pear tree) but the concept has so much room to grow.  The set of 20 animal flashcards are my favourites because they display all the beautifully-illustrated animals from talented Ryan Clark and I am all for tying in clean design with an educational twist.

The flashcards do not have to be limited to well, JUST BEING flashcards.  Here, I pinned some onto a converted noticeboard (made from gallery-wrapped canvas) and displayed them at a location that is closer to my 2-yr-old's line of sight versus high on the wall.

 

You can't really see it in the photos but the cards have an embossed texture on certain parts of their body so it is extra fun for the kids to run their hands over it.  Too neat.

I also placed some in a set of black frames and put four up near my 5-year-old's computer desk.

And this past week, we saw how John and Sherry of YoungHouseLove.com shared 3 cheap and easy wall art ideas at the Babycenter Blog, one of which included displaying the flashcards using some clothespins and twine.

One last idea, you can also purchase 2 sets of the flashcards and combine them to make a memory-game!  So many uses for these!

Modern Family Find of the Week Series: Call for Sponsors!

In addition to writing about my multi-tasking ways, I also enjoy reviewing and hosting giveaways for products and services that are relevant to a modern family like ours.  Extra points if they make a working momma’s life better. So I thought I would put some organization to the "random giveaways" I have been hosting so far and provide some structure (and a schedule!) around it.  So without further ado, I announce a new weekly feature series "Mod Fam Finds"!  Basically, every Thursday, I will feature/review and potentially host a giveaway for a "find" that I feel is relevant to a modern family or a modern mom who enjoys good design.  So I am putting a call out for interested PR reps or sellers who might be interested in featuring their products/services on this weekly series.
